IBAU Extends CSR Support to Happy Times Child Care in Luwero
Giving back to the community is at the heart of our Association.
On 26 September 2026, the Insurance Brokers Association of Uganda (IBAU) extended support to Happy Times Child Care in Luwero as part of its commitment to giving back to communities and contributing to the wellbeing of vulnerable children.
Happy Times is a community school, orphanage and child care facility that has been supporting children since 2006. The facility provides care and education to children, including vulnerable children who may have been abandoned, lost their parents or require additional support.
During the visit, the IBAU team spent time with the children and the management of Happy Times, gaining a deeper understanding of the work being done at the facility and some of the challenges faced in caring for the children.
IBAU supported the children with scholastic materials and food supplies. More importantly, the team spent time with the children, shared smiles and reminded them that they are cared for and supported. The contribution also aimed to support their education, feeding and general wellbeing.
Empowering Children and Communities
Speaking on behalf of Happy Times, Namigadde Joy, Director at Happy Times, highlighted the organisation's work beyond childcare and education.
The initiative also focuses on community empowerment by equipping vulnerable children and community members with practical skills that can help them become more self-reliant and create opportunities for themselves.
Among the skills offered are tailoring and sewing, salon skills, baking and liquid soap making, among others.
Joy expressed appreciation to IBAU for the support, particularly the scholastic materials, noting that the books would support learning among children in different classes and provide access to educational resources that may otherwise be costly for the facility to acquire.
She also encouraged IBAU to maintain its connection with Happy Times and visit the facility again.
IBAU Reaffirms Commitment to Giving Back
Speaking about the visit, IBAU Ag. Chief Executive Officer Christopher Bakesiga Mugisha highlighted the importance of responding to the needs of vulnerable children and communities.
He noted that understanding the circumstances and needs of the children at Happy Times further affirmed IBAU's decision to support the initiative as part of the Association's commitment to giving back.
Bakesiga emphasised that social responsibility is an important part of IBAU's work and that the Association seeks to contribute meaningfully and add value to the communities it serves.
Supporting Communities Beyond Insurance
IBAU PR Director Christopher Ssengendo said the initiative reflects the Association's commitment to supporting communities beyond its role in the insurance sector.
He explained that insurance is fundamentally about helping people recover when unexpected events disrupt their lives and livelihoods. In the same spirit, he said, IBAU believes in extending a helping hand to communities whenever there is an opportunity to make a difference.
Ssengendo also encouraged the children to believe in their potential and pursue their dreams, reminding them that they can grow up to become doctors, engineers, lawyers, teachers, pilots and other professionals who contribute to Uganda's future.
Creating Meaningful Community Impact
The CSR engagement forms part of IBAU's broader commitment to creating meaningful impact in the communities around it.
For the Association, giving back is not only about providing material support, but also about creating connections, offering encouragement and reminding vulnerable communities that they are seen, valued and supported.
IBAU appreciates the management and staff of Happy Times Child Care for welcoming the team and for the important work they continue to do in caring for and supporting children.
