IBAU Holds Its First Town Hall Engagement — Strengthening Leadership for a Changing Industry
Date: 21st March 2025
Venue: Hotel Africana, Kampala
The Insurance Brokers Association of Uganda (IBAU) successfully hosted its inaugural Town Hall engagement at Hotel Africana under the theme “Empowering and Strengthening Mid-Level Leadership to Navigate Change While Inspiring Innovation.” This groundbreaking dialogue brought together mid-level managers from member firms who form the backbone of daily operations within the insurance broking ecosystem. It marked a shift in how leadership capacity is built within the association, placing deliberate emphasis on nurturing emerging leaders who drive transformation behind the scenes.
The Town Hall created an open and collaborative space where members deeply reflected on the pressures shaping the industry today from evolving customer expectations, digital disruption, regulatory adjustments, and talent retention challenges, to the need for continuous professional development. Members highlighted the importance of adaptive leadership, emotional intelligence, and cross-departmental teamwork as core enablers for business continuity and innovation.
We guided discussions around real workplace experiences, offering practical insights on how mid-level leaders can build influence, manage change, and contribute meaningfully to organizational strategy. Mid-level managers also explored how innovation can be cultivated through small but consistent improvements, supportive work cultures, and a willingness to learn and unlearn.
The town hall reaffirmed IBAU’s commitment to developing leaders at all levels not just executives and recognizing that the insurance sector’s growth relies heavily on empowered, well-equipped professionals who can transform daily operations into long-term institutional excellence. This annual engagement now becomes one of IBAU’s signature leadership development programs.
